- #1
Nosotros take most 20 dome cameras outside and a few of the lens seem to exist getting foggy / dirty.
What is the recommended cleaner for cleaning these dome lens?
What blazon of chemical ingredients should I stay away from? I don't desire to do more damage than good!

Distilled water and a microfiber fabric will be what I would apply. These usually take an antiglare coating on information technology that Windex and anything with ammonia may strip.

@lewic ,
Thanks for that data. I take a couple (and so far) that seem to take a dull end to them, kinda similar some headlight lens become. Not sure if it's the aforementioned only curious if anyone else has experienced that.
Also, has anyone tried replacing the 'dome' lens and does Hikvision have replacement dome lens'.

I believe that Hikvision does take replacement domes. Honestly at that place is actually no reason to have a dome photographic camera unless you really need the impact resistance. Turret cameras are better in all aspects. Domes from my experience has a few inherent flaws. Too the dome itself aging and causing issues with clarity, there is also the foam ring that goes between the lens and dome going bad which lets the IR low-cal reverberate into the lens and blinding the camera. Also domes shouldn't exist installed in any are where there is abiding h2o moisture which will have water/dust spots on the dome causing never ending cleaning. Exist careful when cleaning the within of the dome. The edge is super sharp and I have cut my hands many times polishing the inside with a microfiber towel. They should accept rounded the edges or something to make it "safer".

Thank you lewic and sebastiantombs for you comments and advise.
We had another Co. install our security/photographic camera system about 5 years ago, since I had never dealt with cameras before I had no idea what 'should' accept been used outdoors. All of my exterior cameras are dome cameras, argh!
Nosotros are starting to find out what yous hateful past "non for long term use outside" or "no reason to have a dome camera outside". I'chiliad not certain if the original reason was for the 'touch resistance' since most are mounted too loftier to go at without a lift.
Every bit lewic has stated, the inherent flaws, I think I've experienced nigh of those flaws. Trying to capture and view a video with a lens that'due south totally wet and h2o spotted is useless. Snowfall covered until information technology slides off and now the UV deterioration causing a foggy / frosted view.
We are going through a major edifice remodel then several cameras accept been taken down and at present I can see how the lens has deteriorated do to the constant UV light exposure.
All of my outdoor cameras are domes and mounted straight to the side of the building, there'southward good and by and large bad to that.
The bad; the dome is exposed to UV light all the time, at least the upper half of the dome.
The good; but half of the dome (facing up) got the full UV exposure. We relocated 2 cameras inside and I was able to rotate the dome 180 degree'southward then the camera was utilizing the clear one-half of the dome.
Has anyone replaced the dome lens earlier and where did y'all get them?
I establish some generic domes online but I don't know if they're withal size / shape, for the toll, I would hate to have them non fit properly.
I'm going to contact Hikvision about replacement domes.

Hikvision will have the domes bachelor but whether they will sell them to you is the result. Hikvision volition but sell items to distributors/integrators/installers. Y'all tin call their tech back up line and accept them transfer you to presales and run into if they would sell yous the dome. More likely they would refer you back to your installer which would in turn go to ADI or some other distributor. That distributor would then order information technology from Hikvision. Information technology is a hurting in the barrel simply that is how they operate.
At the cease of the twenty-four hours if having to club through that "chain of control" and so might as well do an upgrade to a new turret. Aye you are replacing the dome merely what almost the cream ring? That piece is probably shrunk and deteriorated due to age and that would be the adjacent slice of the puzzle. Since you said they were installed five years ago and Hikvision warranty is iii years so it is out of warranty. If Hikvision doesn't sell yous the domes straight and you lot need to have your installer come out twice for service call to have the domes, order new ones and supervene upon. The toll for all that would definitely be plenty to cover purchasing new turrets (around $65 each) and install. If y'all know how to take off the dome to rotate then you would most definitely be able to take the camera down and install a new 1 in information technology'south identify.
Dome is held on past iii screws. One time removed y'all take 3 screw at the base of the dome that holds it on. Then unplug the networking cable. On the turret, the base of operations of the turret is iii screws which yous would mount to the house kickoff. And then plug in the networking cable to the camera. Put the camera (eyeball looking portion) to the base and the shroud is put over that to hold it in place. Then position the camera where yous want and screw the locking screw down to concur the camera in that position. If yous have a Hikvision NVR with congenital in POE and so information technology will add together the camera automatically using plug and play.

Sebastiantombs, thanks, I exercise have a dial indicator (Harbor Freight special) for measuring.
I sympathize the bravado current of air, rain and snow. These domes, merely unproblematic rain or drizzle can make them impossible to view.
Alastairstevenson, thanks for the link. I checked them out, they have quite the array of domes.
I did contact Hikvision for some other issues and I inquired about replacement domes, they said they could assistance me out with that. I haven't heard dorsum on toll or availability.

I take contacted Hikvision most the domes, they said they could assistance me out in that location. Waiting to see what that ways!
I did become some balmy polish and I'm going to effort buffing out 1 dome with my dremel like we practise headlight lens, I'll allow you know how that goes.
The ane dome I've been trying to clean looks more like a movie or coating is coming off the lens. Non then much as a deadening hazing.

I haven't noticed the rainbow effect merely it has a adequately large area with a uneven edge around it, like something has peeled off. Yous can feel a pocket-sized edge if you run your finger nail across it besides.
I don't know if you exist able to run across it in the picture.

Looks like a new dome volition need to be ordered for those. Yes you can remove the coating but so you may be getting a lot of glare. Recall to become the foam rings that goes in betwixt the dome and the lens. Those usually are worn out besides. You lot tin can put some pelting-x or ceramic coating on the outside of the dome. I have had adept luck with that helping it repel the water aerosol.
